CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
of Study
The
researcher using this case because the researcher found some thesises that
analyzed by the other researcher so there is a research gap that can made by
the researcher. The A research found about method and quality of the noun
phrase translation and research B the researcher found quality and technique
and the last research ( research C ), the researcher found technique and
quality in translation noun phrase aspect. So, there is a gap that we cannot
found in these thesises. The reserach gap is about method and quality.
The
researcher is using noun phrase as the topic because based on the researcher
experience its more easy to find out in search engine like Google. Prahi
(2006:1) mentions, “A noun phrase is a group of words that does the work of a
noun. A noun phrase is either a pronoun or any group of words that can be
replaced by a pronoun.”
We
need to make a gap about the three thesis to analyze a new thesis about
translation. The research gap can help us to make an analyze about translation.
Translation process there are some methods that usually used by translator to
get best result in his/her work. Newmark (1988: 81) state “translation method
is related to whole text”. So, the method of translation is related to the
process of translation and can influenced the result of the translation.
And
Newmark (1988: 45) in Sutopo (2015: 34) classifies translation method into two
groups. Every group consists of four methods which is the first group
(word-for-word translation, literal translation, faithful translation and
semantic translation) emphasizes on source language and the second one
(adaptation, free translation, idiomatic translation, and communicative
translation) is on target language.
To
produce a good quality in translation, there are three factors which influence
the translation quality consisting of accuracy, acceptability, and readability.
Cordero
(2012: 350), “ translation has become a very important part of the modern world
for its contribution in minimizing communication gaps and its ability to enable
technical and scientific information to be accessed, along with ideas that
model the society we live in “. So, we need translation process as our best teacher
in this modern era. Not only for researcher but also for the society when they
use a product from another country.

are the method used in translating noun phrase in subtitles in Kung Fu Panda 3
Movie?

Research Objectives
1. To know the
method used in translating noun phrase in subtitles in Kung Fu Panda 3 Movie.
2. To know the
quality used in translating noun phrase in subtitles in Kung Fu Panda 3 Movie.

Scope of the Study
The
research is only focus on the analyzing of the translation method used by the
translator to translate noun phrase in translating the movie entitled “ Kung Fu
Panda 3 “. The quality of its translation in terms of accuracy and accpetability.

The Significance of the Study
For
the student it can give references for learning translation study. For the researcher,
the researcher can get large knowledge about translation and noun phrase. For
the faculty of university, it can additional information to iprove their ability
in anlyzing noun phrase translation and use it as an additional reference. For
society, it can be guide for society in doing translation aspect when watching movie
or reading some books in native language.
